Notice To All Members of Manchester Users Network From Jackie Daniel, Interim Chief Executive :
Jackie Danial CEO:
Today, the Healthcare Commission has released the results of the annual health check ratings for all NHS Trusts in England and Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust has been rated as;
Quality of Services – Weak
Use of Resources – Fair
It has been publicly acknowledged that this organisation has some fundamental performance problems that need to be overcome. It is also clear that it will take time to solve those problems and improve the Trust.
Despite this, our staff has never faltered in their commitment to provide the best possible care to our service users and I have been impressed by everyone’s dedication and hard work.
The Healthcare Commission have determined that we do not have sufficient evidence recorded on our systems to demonstrate that we were compliant in the 5 areas we had believed we were.
This is clearly a reflection of just how much work we have ahead of us and to that end, I have kick started a thorough review by Steve Hull, our new Interim Director of Nursing, to ensure our systems and procedures stand up to scrutiny and we don’t encounter the same problems elsewhere. Gaps that existed in the management team when I arrived have also now been filled, which I believe will make a real difference to future performance.
We have also been working with the Healthcare Commission and have drawn up an action plan with the Strategic Health Authority with clear objectives of becoming compliant in all areas by the end of the year. This will be available on both of our websites and that SHA from 22 October 2008.
The Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust is committed to providing mental health services worthy of the people of Manchester.
Kind regards
Jackie Daniel
Interim Chief Executive
