Plans to cut £1.6m from a Salford health service aimed at the most vulnerable in the city have been approved – despite union pleas to put them on hold.
Salford’s health improvement service has eight neighbourhood-based teams and provides a variety of community, health improvement, intervention, and support services.

A CRISIS centre that helps people contemplating suicide is opening a 24-hour emergency helpline.
The Sanctuary Wigan and Leigh, based at Patrick House in Leigh Road, Leigh, provides overnight support for people with mental health problems.
It opened in October last year and aims to keep those experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, depression or suicidal thoughts out of police cells and A&E departments.
The Sanctuary announced plans for a new helpline to serve people across Greater Manchester as a damning report on mental health crisis care was published.
Norman Lamb accuses mental health campaigners of trolling him
Liberal Democrat care minister, Norman Lamb, has accused mental health campaigners in his North Norfolk constituency of trolling him on Twitter.
Lamb, who promotes himself as a champion for mental health awareness, was responding to tweets from the Campaign to Save Mental Health Services in Norfolk & Suffolk which called him duplicitous and said it had encountered many people who were adversely affected by cuts to mental health services under the Liberal-Conservative coalition.
The MP for Norfolk North tweeted: “I am pursued by vicious, sometimes defamatory and totally cynical trolling by Norfolk/Suffolk Crisis campaigners!”
