Below was given in Written answers in The House of Commons on Thursday 20th November 2008, the amount for Mental Health Trust’s belonging to the NHS to give dignity to its patients seems an amount of monies to be a sum which needs every MP and especially our Manchester MP’s to question Ann Keen’s Department figures, we certainly question the amount given in the House to be not credible given the number of patients involved.

Norman Lamb (Shadow Secretary of State for Health, Health; North Norfolk, Liberal Democrat) |: To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many mental health beds are in (a) single rooms and (b) mixed areas. [237033] Ann Keen: At 31 March 2008, the number of single bedded rooms in mental health trusts was 17,894 and the number of beds not in single rooms was 5,454. These figures do not include mental health beds provided by other trusts. Norman Lamb: To ask the Secretary of State for Health what estimate he has made of the cost of providing all mental health unit beds in single sex accommodation. [237167] Ann Keen: The Department estimated the cost of achieving 100 per cent. single bedrooms in mental health trusts and community with mental health trusts as being £3.9 billion at current prices earlier this year.
