At today’s Annual general Meeting of Manchester Mental Health & Social Care Trust, held at the Premier Inn, Manchester, Old Trafford Hotel
Non-Executive Chair Director Wyn Dignan; announced the appointment of the new Chief Executive, who will take the place of Jackie Daniel who resigned from the post last month, she now is CEO at troubled foundation trust; University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay, she started there last August. The new incumbent is Michele Moran; she is currently a Director of Care Services and Chief Nurse at Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. She is a Nurse, Midwife, and Health Visitor.
Avid sports fan, supporting Bradford City Football Club, amongst others. Michele enjoys Rugby Union, Rugby League, cricket, golf, tennis, and most Olympic sports. When not at the gym, Michele plays golf and has been Lady Captain of two golf clubs. Michele is currently handicap secretary and scratch team captain at Hickleton Golf Club, Doncaster. Michele is currently studying a course in Yoga and is an advocate of everybody taking part in sports and physical activity, no matter how small. She told the interview panel that she would be keen on having a gymnasium in which inpatients would be able to have routine exercise whilst in hospital. She is also against locked wards for patients whose stay in hospital is voluntary. At Leeds, the use of swipe cards allow patients not sectioned, to move freely from the hospital wards.
A spokesperson for Manchester Users network (MUN) said, “This lady sounds very much like a person who understands the importance of good nutrition and healthy exercise. The idea of having exercise areas around the hospital, such as gymnasiums, is something MUN has been requesting for patients for a long time. Putting exercise into the patient’s life, coupled with teaching the meaning of ingesting good nutrients aims for good mental health and helps patients spend less time in hospital , yes this lady seems like someone ‘MUN’ could easily welcome and work with in common purpose”.
