Cuts protesters dramatically delayed the start of today’s Salford Council meeting by occupying the mayor’s table.
A 15-minute stand-off followed until Mr Stewart eventually agreed to a meeting on the issue tomorrow morning.
The protesters say the shake-up of the city mental health services – currently being carried out by NHS trust Greater Manchester West and the council – could end up killing vulnerable people.
They say the current consultation is not being properly carried out. After agreeing to the meeting the protesters left and the meeting began as normal.
